Resource Consent Engineering investigates the environment, environmental impacts and the likely environmental effects within the concept of sustainable development. It requires a holistic approach to the utilisation and development of resources, and integrates the relevant engineering and environmental disciplines to meet the precepts of the Resource Management Act.

Identification of the threshold of sustainability, and measures to ensure it is not exceeded. Prevention or minimisation of adverse effects of projects in all phases. Allow for risks, warning and protection against natural hazards such as storm events. Consideration of the social and psychological effects, which provide a sense of belonging (social security). Cost benefit analysis and the impact to individual projects and the environment is considered at all times.

Typical Works:

  • Feasibility and Planning
  • Consultation
  • Water resource assessments
  • Site suitability and feasibility assessments for residential, commercial and large industrial developments
  • Marine and harbour studies and developments
  • Assessments of Environmental Effects (AEE)
  • Dam Safety Scheme Certification
  • Hazzard identification and risk management

Our project by project philosophy to ensure success and minimise timely and expensive resource consent delays is:
  • Sufficient technical acheivement to promote a sustainable environment for all stakeholders
  • Conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems
  • Methods to minimise energy requirements, efficiently use resources and minimise waste. Identification and discussion of project consequences, direct, indirect, immediate or long term, upon the  environment of people and cultural values
  • A thorough study of the environment, assessment of impacts arising in the state, dynamics and aesthetics of the ecosystem and selection of appropriate alternatives
  • A clear plan of actions and rehabilitation measures required to restore and improve the disturbed environment
