Whether you’re completing your professional internship over summer or starting out in your career, Cook Costello offers structured programs, mentorship, and real project experience to set you up for long-term success.

Internship Program

Our 10-week internship program gives you the chance to experience life inside a multidisciplinary consultancy, working alongside civil, structural, geotechnical, surveying and geophysics teams. From day one, you’ll be involved in real projects, gaining hands-on site and office experience under the guidance of senior professionals.

Over the course of the program, you’ll rotate through various disciplines, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that shape local communities. Along the way, you’ll receive mentoring, feedback, and networking opportunities to help you grow your confidence and set a clear direction for your future career.

By the end of the 10 weeks, you’ll walk away with practical experience, professional connections, and a deeper understanding of how integrated engineering teams solve complex challenges across New Zealand.

At Cook Costello, graduates are supported through a structured training and mentorship program that combines hands-on project work with professional guidance. Each graduate is paired with a senior mentor and follows a tailored development plan, with quarterly check-ins to track progress.

Our program aligns with Engineering New Zealand’s emerging professional framework, helping you build technical capability, professional practice skills, and a clear pathway toward Chartered/Licensed status. With continuous learning, feedback, and exposure to diverse projects, you’ll be equipped to grow your career with confidence.
