About the Role

We’re seeking a highly capable and people-focused Engineering Manager to lead our Wellington office and drive the continued growth of our multidisciplinary consultancy. This senior management role is ideal for an experienced engineer who combines strong technical capability with proven leadership, commercial acumen, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.

You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding client outcomes across civil, structural, and geotechnical projects, while fostering collaboration between our offices nationwide. Working closely with our General Manager, Technical Director and other senior managers, you’ll oversee project delivery, resourcing, client relationships, and staff development within the Wellington region.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, surveyors      and geophysicists.

  • Foster a high-performance culture built on      collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional      development initiatives.

  • Ensure alignment with company values, quality      systems, and the company culture across all offices.

Project Delivery

  • Oversee the successful delivery of      multidisciplinary projects from concept to completion.

  • Support project managers and technical leads to      meet quality, time, and budget targets.

  • Provide input on complex engineering design, risk      assessments, and review of technical reports.

  • Implement and maintain best-practice QA, health      & safety, and compliance processes.

Business & Client Management

  • Strengthen client relationships and identify new      business opportunities.

  • Support preparation of proposals, fee estimates,      and resource planning.

  • Collaborate with the wider leadership team to      achieve regional and company-wide financial goals.

  • Represent the company in meetings, industry events,      and professional networks.

About You

About You


You’re a natural leader who thrives on solving technical challenges and bringing people together to deliver great outcomes. You understand the balance between operational delivery, staff wellbeing, and commercial performance.


Requirements:

  • BE (Civil/Structural/Geotechnical) or equivalent;      CPEng or working toward.

  • 10+ years’ experience in consulting engineering,      including team or project leadership roles.

  • Proven ability to manage people, budgets, and      client relationships effectively.

  • Strong understanding of New Zealand codes, consent      processes, and local authority requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commercially astute with a collaborative mindset.
