About the Role
As our Whangarei office continues to grow, we are seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team and play a key role in supporting a diverse range of projects across Northland and beyond.
This role is ideally suited to an engineer who has developed solid New Zealand geotechnical experience and is ready to take greater ownership of projects while progressing toward Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
You will play an active role in delivering a diverse range of geotechnical and land development projects, working with Senior and Chartered Engineers while developing increasing technical and project responsibility.
Your work will include:
Geotechnical site investigations and field testing
Foundation assessments and geotechnical reporting for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects
Slope stability assessments and retaining wall design input
Site inspections, construction monitoring and quality assurance
Preparation of technical reports, specifications and recommendations
Coordination with civil, structural and surveying teams to deliver practical and integrated solutions
Contributing practical, efficient and buildable geotechnical solutions
Rapid assessment of land damage events
Supporting the development of junior team members through mentoring, technical guidance and day-to-day collaboration
You will be involved across projects from initial investigation and assessment through to design support and construction monitoring, gaining broad project exposure within a collaborative consultancy environment.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership of project components appropriate to your experience, while continuing to receive guidance and technical support from experienced Chartered Engineers, while also helping to develop and strengthen the capability of junior members within the team.
About You
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, motivated and ready to take the next step in their career.
Ideally you will have:
BE (Hons) specialising in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or similar relevant qualification
Approximately 3–6 years’ relevant New Zealand geotechnical experience within a consultancy environment
Good understanding of NZ geotechnical standards, guidelines and legislation
Experience undertaking site investigations, assessments and technical reporting
Experience with geotechnical analysis and design software such as SLIDE, CPeT-IT or similar
Strong communication and report writing skills
Working toward CPEng or intending to pursue registration
A current full New Zealand driver license
