Structural Engineer – Graduate to Intermediate

We are seeking a Graduate to Intermediate Structural Engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience to join our growing Christchurch office. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of new design and existing building projects, supported by experienced Senior and Chartered Engineers in a collaborative and professional environment. 


You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to construction-phase support, and will work closely with architects, contractors, and other disciplines within our integrated consultancy. 


This is an ideal role for someone looking to strengthen technical capability, broaden project exposure, and progress toward Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.


What You Will Do


  • Structural analysis and design of timber, steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures

  • Preparation of design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports

  • Undertaking Detailed Seismic Assessments (DSA) of existing buildings

  • Site inspections, structural assessments, and construction monitoring

  • Working alongside senior engineers on complex and multidisciplinary projects

  • Contributing to practical, efficient, and buildable design solutions

  • Collaborating with internal disciplines and external project stakeholders

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, curious, and motivated to grow.

You will ideally have:


  • BE (Hons) or equivalent specialising in Structural Engineering, Washington Accord accredited

  • 2 to 5 years of structural design experience in New Zealand

  • Experience using analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, and SpaceGass

  • A sound understanding of New Zealand standards and codes including NZS 1170, NZS 3101, NZS 3404, and NZS 3603 or 3604

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A proactive approach to learning and development, with intent to progress toward CPEng

  • The ability to work effectively in a team-focused, multidisciplinary environment
